Isotank, shipping containers

Isotank: Isotank is a type of steel tanker used to transport liquid gases, flammable substances, corrosive substances, chemicals and toxic substances. Due to the type of Isotank round frame, it is also suitable for rail and sea transportation. Isotank is used to transport liquid helium, liquid oxygen, liquid argon, liquid nitrogen.

Isotank consists of a 20 feet container frame with a tanker inside the frame. This special shape of the frame gives it the advantages of a container that can be transported by land, rail and sea transport. There are different types of isotanks in the market, each of which is designed for a specific purpose. Container tankers can be used to transport all dangerous and non-hazardous liquids, including liquid gases, flammable substances, corrosive substances, chemicals and toxic substances.

These containers are made of stainless steel and surrounded by various protective layers. Different shells can be used based on the type of cargo. The container has a manhole at the top with at least one valve and another valve at the bottom. They are in the shape of a cylinder. Since ISO tanks are built according to ISO standards, the tank frame has dimensions of about 6 meters long, 2.4 meters wide and between 2.4 and 2.5 meters high and varies in size and type and can carry between 21,000 and 40,000 liters of liquid.

Advantages of ISO tank containers (Isotank)

1. ISO tank containers are a reliable, economical (depending on the product being transported) and absolutely safe method of transporting bulk liquids.

2. ISO tanks are designed to meet certain criteria regarding the material they will carry.

3. Because of the above, ISO tanks are very reliable and can withstand extreme pressure and damage.

4. ISO tanks are very unlikely to leak and do not require additional packing materials for the shipment.

5. ISO tanks maintain a certain temperature for temperature sensitive cargo and can be transported by land or ocean.

Flexitanks vs. ISO tank containers for transporting bulk liquids

Since ISO tank containers are often compared to Flexitanks, I would say that the comparison is applicable depending on the type of product and the origin/destination of the shipment. Flexitanks and tank containers are both used to transport bulk liquids. Depending on what you are shipping and the origin/destination, one method can be better than the other. Bulk liquid transportation is an important part of the freight industry. Depending on the type of product being shipped, the origin of the product, and the destination of the shipment, the most reliable and cost-effective method of transporting bulk liquid may not be clear.

While ISO tank containers and flexi tanks are both used to efficiently transport bulk liquids, there are distinct differences between the two options. Flexitanks are economical when the product is not hazardous depending on the origin/destination. Due to the high cost of moving tank containers to the origin of the shipment, if there is no two-way trade at the origin/destination, these tanks should be relocated to their original location or where the tank container suppliers need them. Therefore, it increases the cost of sea freight. In this scenario, flexi tanks can play an important role in maintaining the transportation advantage over tank containers.
